You Love Music -> Podcast Tipp: XLR8R – Brennan Green

Music Podcasts are a great way to explore new music. They just pop up in your library, you don’t have to do much, once you’ve subscribed. Unfortunately I recon that specially in Germany the amount of good music podcasts have been reduced to a minium. Guess why…. Gema spread the word, that it..huuu… yes. It is illegal. I don’t wanna bore you to death with details….. I always go shopping after i heard a great song in a mix – and the tracklisting is available. Listening to a podcast in iTunes is fun as you can add a link to every song, which appears in the cover-window. The tracklist you can find in the lyrics-section, if the creator did their homeworks.

Here is a great example for it, when I heard it the first time i nearly freaked out. The ORB tune in the beginning… nearly 20 years old, followed by a track from The Rolling Stones (Heaven), which i bought instantely. A quick look at the tracklisting made me smile and curious. R. Hawtin, followed by Air and a edit of a Bruce Springsteen Track…dooooooooode… but read and listen here:

New York City DJ and producer Brennan Green has carved his own little niche in dance music’s leftfield—between his genre-bending DJ sets and releases on Modal, Balihu, and his own Chinatown imprint, it’s hard to predict exactly what kind of otherworldly sonic experience he’s about to cook up. On this exclusive Prepare to XLR8 mix, Green takes it to a whole ‘nother level, largely ditching the house and disco sounds he’s often associated with in favor of a lengthy psychedelic journey through downtempo, prog, funk, Krautrock, and other sounds on the outer reaches of the aural spectrum. With a protracted moment of silence dedicated to Michael Jackson segueing into a Bruce Springsteen re-edit, it’s pretty clear that this isn’t the average DJ mix. Prepare to XLR8 is an unusual journey, albeit one well worth taking.
